Safe puncture repairs
Fuller Tyres can repair your puncture with our mobile service vehicles and at our drive-in centre. Our tyre technicians will remove your tyre to carefully examine it for every sign of damage. If the puncture is in the middle 75% of the tyre tread we can perform a puncture repair in accordance with British Standard AU 159. This ensures your car tyre will remain safe for you and every road-user.
High performance tyres
Car tyres with a speed rating of ‘V’ (149mph) and above can only have one puncture repair in their lifetime.
Run flat tyres
Tyre manufacturers state that run flat tyres cannot have puncture repairs for safety reasons. Run flat tyres feature reinforced side walls which make it extremely difficult to identify structural damage caused by running the tyre when flat. Consequently, any repair is simply too dangerous to consider.
Wheel alignment service
Correct wheel alignment or ‘tracking’ reduces tyre wear by up to 30%, lowers fuel consumption by around 10%, and more importantly optimises the handling and braking performance.
Your steering wheels become misaligned following impact with potholes and nudging against kerbs. In short, just routine everyday life for your car. Typically, you’ll notice misalignment through your car always pulling to one side: requiring constant correction to the steering and accelerated tread wear on the tyre shoulders.
The Fuller Tyres wheel alignment service is available at our drive-in centre. Using calibrated technology our skilled tyre technicians will correct toe and camber measurements to the manufacturer’s specification.
Computerised wheel balancing
The manufacturing process of wheels and tyres results in slight weight imbalances. As the car speed rises, these imbalances can cause the wheel to spin unevenly – creating vibration in the steering wheel and accelerating tyre tread wear.
Our computerised wheel balancing precisely identifies where to add small weights to the wheel rim to balance these slight differences. This ensures even weight distribution so that the wheel spins evenly at speed.
Fuller Tyres include a wheel balance check with every new tyre fitted by our mobile service vehicles and drive-in centre.
Tyre pressure maintenance
Maintaining the correct air pressure will improve vehicle safety, minimise fuel consumption and extend the service life of your tyres.
You should regularly check your car tyre pressures, at least monthly and certainly prior to making any long-distance journeys. The tyres should be cold when you check them and it’s important to use an accurate pressure gauge.
The recommended tyre pressures can typically be found in the owner’s handbook or on a sticker mounted in the driver’s door or fuel tank flap. Most cars run different pressures between the front and rear tyres – and you will need to increase these when you carry heavier loads, for example when your family go on your summer holiday. The air pressure will be stated as PSI (pounds per square inch) or BAR pressure.
Legal tread depth
It’s quick and easy to check if your car tyres are legal – with a 20p coin. Insert the coin into the tread grooves in three locations, both across the tread and around the tyre. If you cannot see the outer band of the 20p coin, your tyres are above the legal limit of 1.6mm.
If your tread is reaching the minimum depth, it’s time for Fuller Tyres to replace them with a quality new set. Your braking distance will rapidly deteriorate towards the legal limit and you risk aquaplaning on wet road surfaces. Should the tread wear be uneven, we recommend our wheel alignment service to maximise the life of your new tyres.
